SPORTS THERAPY
Sports therapy integrates manual therapy of the musculoskeletal system (joints, muscles, ligaments and tendons). It applies the principles of sport and exercise science, utilising a deep understanding of the physiological and pathological processes involved to restore the body for training, competition and work.
It is specifically focused on the treatment and prevention of injury, with the emphasis on rehabilitation back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness, regardless of age and ability.
It combines physiological and pathological processes and integrates physiotherapy skills to prepare the participant for training, competition and where applicable, work. It is a usually very hands on treatment, but in addition can also include the use of electrotherapy equipment such as ultrasound, interferential, laser and tens when appropriate. See
The Society of Sports Therapists for more details.
We have a multitude of skills to treat a wide variety of conditions and injuries, integrating advanced soft tissue manipulation, joint mobilisation and many others including additional therapy equipment including
Kinesio tape.
